Most companies cannot justify the cost of a full time IT person because the problems they have crop up once or twice a day or more likely all at once but only occasionally.  And the employee that ‘kinda knows’ about computers can be even more costly in bad decisions and poor implementations. That is why we are offering our ‘Tech Guy’ technical consulting services.  

For a small monthly fee you get immediate response by remote connection to any computer in your office to immediately solve any problems or answer employee’s questions.  You will also get on-site service guaranteed to be within one day at reduced rates for any problems, such as new installations or hardware repairs. You will not be calling a big company where you never speak to the same person twice.  This is a truly personal service.  When you call, you talk to me. No question is too small or too big. Our goal is make the large investment you have made in your computers and your internet access provide a better return.


If you have more than two or three computers chances are you are not fully utilizing their capabilities.  We will not only keep your business operating smoothly we believe we can actually save you money. A workstation that does not work costs a lot in lost personnel time.  Businesses without an IT department also generally spend more money on software than they need to.  Then there is the cost of operating a computer network that is at risk to viruses, Trojans and even software that can steal your private corporate or personal data. 

 

Starting Out


The first thing we do is audit all of the equipment you currently are using.  This includes a computer by computer audit that will give us a record of each computer and all the details from the CPU to Video Card and all the software that is installed on it. That gives us the basis for making recommendations on improving your IT equipment.


Remote Help Desk


When you become a client you will get a small program to install on each computer.  When you need help you just contact us with a request for help, double click on the icon which asks us to connect to you.  At your initiation we can share your desktop and tell you how to do something or take over and 'fix' your computer. The program provides 100% security, if you don't ask for a connection we can't connect.


How You & Your Employees Get Help


When your employee has a question or a problem they can contact us several ways. As a Tech Guy client you will have a special phone number that can reach me in my office or my cell phone. You will also be provided with my user name so you can ask a question via any IM client such as Yahoo messenger, AIM, ICQ, or MSN messenger or Google Chat. If your question comes after hours or you would just prefer to use email you can send us one and we'll answer or call back during office hours. Our help desk is available during normal business hours,  10am – 6pm Monday thru Friday. Weekend and evening emergencies are billed at our ‘on premise’ rate. If we cannot solve the problem ourselves we will work with your hardware or covered software support desk to find the solution.  Your employees will never need to be ‘on hold’ for hours waiting for help with a problem.


Security & Software Updates


When you become Tech Guy's client  you will be set up to get automatic updates of security software where available.  You will also get advisories on security risks. Since we will have the obligation to fix any security breaches we will do everything we can to be sure you avoid them.  Keeping your computers safe is the most important thing we do for our clients. We keep track of the most cost effective means of providing this important safeguard.  In addition to virus and malware protection it is imperative now that every computer is getting is Windows updates as well as updates to the many commonly used programs.  We make sure that happens.


Develop A Back-up Routine To Protect Your Data


A lost hard drive is a real disaster.  We will develop and implement a back-up plan for all of the data from all of your employees.  The planning for this system is included in the monthly fee however implementation generally requires an in-person call at your regular rate.


Consultation on Software


Tell us what you want software or computer to do for you and get our recommendations.  Recommendations will include free and paid software. We will talk with your employees and see if there are more efficient ways for them to use their computer with additional software.  We will also evaluate requests from your staff for software and hardware and help you determine if your ROI justifies the purchase.
Your contract includes support for common office software and software recommended by us.  It does not include proprietary or special industry software. You may be able to get support from the provider or their website.  We provide lessons on the fundamental  use of the software we recommend for an additional fee can hold classes in advanced or special uses.

Consultation on Hardware Purchases


Technology is ever changing. Tell us what you want to do with a computer and get specific recommendations for online or retail purchase.  Or in many cases we can advise you on upgrading your present computer to get another year or two out of it. We will examine the printers, scanners and other peripherals you have in your network and make recommendations as necessary. We do not sell anything. We believe you deserve an independent opinion. If you want to make a purchase we will recommend the best product we can find to meet your needs and tell you where to purchase it.  If you would rather we make the purchase for you we will do so but will add a 15% service charge. Installation is charged at the in person call rate if necessary. Many things can be installed via a remote connection with your participation. If an email doesn't make it clear what you are looking for we will call you to discuss the issue in person.


Maintain Driver Updates


To keep your computer in top working order it is important to keep your drivers updated. If you don't know what drivers are if won't matter because we will just take care of making sure they are up to date.


In Office Services


Some problems cannot be solved remotely. Most of the time fixing a computer that has been infected with a virus, Trojan or other malware requires an on premise service call. Other services that require a call are the  installation of new hardware, some network problems and some instructional situations where it is necessary to sit with more than one person at a time.  We only will make on premise calls as absolutely necessary.  At our sole discretion we may substitute an in person call for a remote help desk call and when we do so we will not bill the extra charges.

Typical In Office Services ($25 per hour)

  1. installing and configuring computer systems;
  2. replacing parts as required;
  3. organizing training for users;
  4. understanding your work practices and the nature of your business evaluating user needs and system functionality and making recommendations for facilities that meet these needs;
  5. planning, developing and implementing the budget, obtaining competitive prices from suppliers where appropriate, to ensure cost effectiveness;(Charged per hour or by adding 15% to cost of items purchased)
  6. scheduling upgrades and security backups of hardware and software systems;


Our Rates

Contract rate: $150 per computer per Year

Quarterly Rate : $75 per computer

(this includes, printer, scanner and other devices that do not work without being attached to your computer for each computer. ) It also includes your Local  Area Network if you have more than 5 computers.  We also maintain your internet connection and will work with your ISP if there are issues. This fee includes all remote services


On Premise Services: For those things that cannot be done remotely we will bill you at $25.00 per hour (our non-contract rate is $50.00 per hour).  (One hour minimum for on premises work)


We never bill for meetings whether you request them or we do.
